error de instalación de multifuncion HP PSC 1500

Buenas, tengo un problema con la instalación de una multifunción HP PSC 1500, ya q en mitad de la instalación me aparece una ventana q dice lo siguiente: can not run unicode version of ATL71.DLL on windows 95, windows 98 or windows me. Please install the ANSI version. Yo tengo windows 98, pero dice q es compatible... pero si es compatible no debería tener problemas de instalación por ello... o no? Os agradecería q me echarais una manita... o yo se la echaré al cuello a alguno de HP... muchas gracias

Eso paso por que te falta ese fichero (tambien puede faltar el ATL70.DLL ), seguramente debido a una mala "instalacion" del Atnivirus.
Tienes Mac Afee ? Tienes Norton ? O los tuviste instalado antes y los quitaste (o creiste que los quitabas )....

Ese seria el problema.
La posible solucion:
Puede que esos ficheritos no se hayan borrado, sino que esten "escondidos" o fuera de sitio, entonces, el Windows no los encuentra.
Te adjunto una secuencia de pasos para buscarlos y encontrarlos, esta en ingles, pero se comprende bastante bien aunque no domines la lengua.
Si eso no funciona, avisaem, y buscaremos otras soluciones.

To rename the Atl7x.dll files and reinstall your Norton program

1. On the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
2. Do one of the following:
* In Windows 98, click View > Options.
* In Windows Me, click Tools > Folder Options.
3. On the View tab, uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
(Note the current settings so that you can change them back when this solution is completed.)
4. Do one of the following:
* In Windows 98, in the Advanced settings box, click Show all files under the "Hidden files" folder.
* In Windows Me, uncheck Hide protected operating system files and click Show hidden files and folders under the "Hidden files" folder.
5. Click Yes if you see a warning dialog box.
6. Click Apply, and then click OK.
7. On the Windows desktop, click Start > Find or Search > Files or Folders.
8. In the Search Results window, set "Look in" to (C:) and check Include subfolders.
9. In the "Named" or "Search for..." box, type--or copy and paste--the following file names:

atl70.dll, atl71.dll
10. Click Find Now or Search Now.
11. When the search completes, locate the C:Windows\System32\Atl70.dll file.
12. Right-click the file, choose Rename in the context menu, and rename the file to atl70.old.
If you do not have Atl70.dll, then go to the next step.
13. Repeat steps 11 and 12 for Atl71.dll.
If you do not have Atl71.dll, then go to the next step.
14. Close the Search Results window.
